PCAD hears update on Windsor station

The Pettis County Ambulance District Board of Directors heard an update to the proposed Windsor station during its regular meeting Tuesday.

By mutual agreement PCAD took over services for the Windsor Ambulance District in December, with plans to offer emergency medical and transfer services until WAD is able take over again, likely in several years. This month, PCAD closed on a residential home that will be used as a station for a crew and ambulance.

PCAD Administrator Mike Gardner said the house needed work, including replacing old carpet throughout the home and much needed electrical repairs.

“The current garage, as it stands, will need to be completely rewired,” he told the board. “There are also low wires, I could actually grab onto them easily, hanging that will need to be taken down. Luckily the house itself will not have to be rewired and the garage is not a critical issue that will prevent us from starting services. We can shut it off if needed.”

Plumbing issues will also need to be addressed in the coming months, with both of the home’s two bathrooms needing new shower/tub units. PCAD will also build a locked storage area in the station’s basement to house records.

“The house itself is good, it just needs some modernization and safety upgrades,” Gardner said. “We’re also looking at where we will be housing the ambulance in Windsor and what’s available right now.”

Gardner estimated services to Windsor would start in mid-February.
